New-York - Houston

04/04/2011

After all, even if you had 3 hours, it's just the time necessary to go through all the security.
The flight began well for me: I was in the first ones to go on the plane as I had a seat at the back. I began to feel a bit tired so I settled myself and began to doze off and was waken up by the cabincrew maybe 10 minutes later while the plane was nearly fully boarded.

"Sorry Madam, what is you seat number please?"
"I'm here...in the middle...I'm on the E, 29E"
"Can I see your ticket please? Indeed madam, your seat is correct but that's row 27..." :S :S
...Sure I had found my correct seat on the first flight ..I couldn't do it twice!!

I spent the time dozing off but was waken up every 10-15 minutes by turbulences. We landed at 09:05pm in the Terminal E. Looking around to find something to eat, the only shop-restaurant still open was a pizzeria. And now I got the point of why so many Americans are fat: everything is giant size! You ask for a slice of pizza and a salad. The slice is 25cm long on 9cm large on the top and in the salad you have two slices of tomato, 2 of cucumber and maybe 10 pieces of iceberg salad...OK! I got the point^^'

And after spending 2 hours on my computer, it was time to find a good place to sleep...and on that aspect, the Houston Airport has done everything it could to make it....impossible! And unfortunetly they achieved this goal! Row of 4 seats but each of them separated by an armrest making it impossible to lie down.

I first tried to sleep on the floor but was waken up 30 minutes after by the cleaning lady who kindly asked me to move because she needed to clean this part.

I then moved to another gate, already clean, to do the same. I didn't reach the 20 minutes sleep that a security gard told me I couldn't sleep on the floor.... Why??? I have no idea!

Moving away, I found in a corner some rows of seat put all together. For once I saw an advantage to be little. The two rows were next one to another and folding up on myself, I was able to squeez myself there and to fall asleep. 1 hour alter, a very embarrassed lady woke me up and asked me to move as they needed to put those seats back in their normal position at the gate where they had been taking off.

Well... It was 3am and I still had to wait 5 hours. I went back where I was at first and which was cleaned now and tried to find a confortable position to sleep on a seat. At 4h30 I gave up, waking up every 10 minutes to change position was more exhausting than relaxing. Jajaja. At least it gave me time to write all the articles and to update the blog! Another nice point : I was able to see the sunrise through the windows!

I don't know which of you informed them I was in the airport but I am quite sure this announcement was  meant for me:  "You are reminded that any inappropriate remark or joke may result in your arrest"  oO oO Claire don't even think about openning your mouth!!!

Well, my dear friends, it's 8:15am here and it's time for me to stop "geeking" and get ready for the boarding!
Next time, I'll write from Costa Rica!!

No, I'm not the crazy one stretching in front of the gate!
