Goodbye Jan Parsons and welcome Black Pine Circle

16/04/2011

Today was a short day to do everything I had to do.
First drove Jan Parsons’ group to the airport and let them go (that was the difficult part!). It was time for the last hugs and the last goodbye. Sandro who was the driver for this transfer drove me back to my home where I had to pack everything because I was changing family today. I still don’t understand how I can go somewhere with a small bag, unpack, not buying anything and not be able to pack back everything in my bag….Jinx?

At 2pm came Nando came to pick me up at my family and drive me to my new family: Yancy’s family. She is very nice and has 2 kids: Jimena who is 13 and José Fabio who is 9. It was funny because Fabio came and told me “you know I can speak Spanish, English and French” so I told him in French “Ok, so we’re going to speak in French now!”….Bad luck for him…He could have chosen any other languages and I could have believed him but French…too bad for him ;)

I then went to unpack my bags in my new room. I had some time with my family where we spoke about France, my family, my studies and my coming group. Yancy and her cousin were making typical pastries for the “Semana Santa” which is a very important week here.

Then it was time to go to the airport to welcome Black Pine Circle School. I checked just before leaving if the plane was on time and it was foreseen with 10 minutes advance. I was happy. A bit less when I got there: “delayed”…Bad luck! The plane was still showed as “delayed” when a woman point at me and made bid gestures… 5 seconds after came a group…well my group had arrived! Thanks new technology!
The kids were all tired but very very polite: “good evening Madam”; “How are you madam”.... Arelys told me I wasn’t allowed to speak in English with them…new challenge: explain everything in Spanish and try to make them understand without a word of English….We’ll see!

I was impressed in the bus because the teacher made them all speak in Spanish to be sure they could understand and answer the family with all the usual question: “what’s your name”, “how old are you”, “where are you from”….etc.  It was a good rehearsal for them.

We then met the families and all went back home for a good night!
