Medellin and El Poblado

31/08/2011

Today we left Bucaramanga at 4:45 in a taxi which drove is to the airport. We arrived there at 5:40am for our plane at 7:40am, so just at the right time. When we showed our tickets they asked us if we wanted to take an earlier flight, one was living at 6am.. So we ran to the gate and took it. It’s the first time I was entering a plane where everyone was already settled.
The journey took only 1 hour to go to Bogota but I didn’t see it passing as… I was sleeping all the time!

At Bogota we had to wait until 10am to have our flight for Medellin. I didn’t mind as there was a free internet connection. I passed the 3 hours chatting with friends, updating my blog and checking my mails. It was a nice but short time :)

The flight to Medellin was only 30 minutes so you don’t really have time to do anything. The plane was well equipped (a pity for the time we spent in it) with a private TV, games, music…etc

Once at Medellin we took a taxi to go to our hostel: Casa Kiwi. From the car we had a beautiful view of the city, indeed it was very different from Barichara, San Gil o Guanes… just a bit bigger… LOL

Just for us... for sure!

We checked in at the hostel Casa Kiwi, got ready and went for a walk around El Poblado.

We arranged to meet Santiago, Sebastian’s brother, at 2pm so meanwhile we went to have lunch. Santiago met us at the restaurant Le Bon and joined us for the lunch. He then had to go to study but gave us precious information about where to go.

 They knew I was coming?

We walked around the city going down la Milla de Oro passing by La Strada, San Fernando Plaza, Hard Rock and Oviedo. We then walk to Eafit where I was thinking going studying before getting the job in Costa rica. Going back we wanted to be smart and take a bus in order to avoid walking back to the hotel…except that we missed our stop by far and had to walk the double to go back home…clever!

 Looks alike no? ... :D

We arrived just in time to take a shower and change before going to a restaurant called la Zorba to meet Santiago again. It was a very nice evening; we laughed a lot and spoke about a lot of things : Medellin, art, architecture, music, our trip to Colombia and of course one of the main subject one Sebastian as we both knew him! Bad luck for him…jajaja Just kidding Sebas, your brother wouldn’t give me any “chisme” jajaja

We then went for an ice cream, or my dad and Santiago went for an ice cream, as I couldn’t eat anything else. Then ate him meanwhile we were walking around el Poblano. We finished at our hostel as Santiago wanted to show us the “gringo” hostel…We we knew it well as it was ours! LOL

I know you are going to hate me Santiago bu still, I put the photo

The three of us stayed a bit on the roof of the hostel to admire the view and it was already time to say goodbye to Santiago. It was very nice meeting him and my dad and I are very thankful for his help and advices! Gracias Santiago!!

Tomorrow..well today as it’s already 2am: Medellin City Center.
