Leticia

05/09/2011

Today we left our hostel at 5:30 am to go to the airport. It took us around 20 minutes by taxi. We had an hour so we went to have a fresh juice at a little coffee shop. Our plane went first to Bogota where we had to collect our luggage, change terminal and take another plane to Leticia.

"Person to contact "not travelling with you" : I love this photo…very reassuring…

Smoke in the middle of the Amazon: I loved my dad comment: “when did the last plane for Leticia leave Bogota? 1 hour ago no?….”.. I love it!
First sight of the Amazon

We arrived at Leticia, were surprised by the heat: around 35°, took a taxi and went to the hotel.

We then changed clothe in 3 minutes and left for a walk. You will never guess where we went….
We went to Brazil!!! Yes sir, I’m not lying (not this time^^). I would even add that we also went to Peru tonight! No it’s not the name of 2 streets in the town, we really went to the 2 countries!
I think you need an explanation: Laeticia is the border with Colombia, Brazil and Peru. You can cross without any problem and there is only an official at the border between Leticia in Colombia and Tabatinga in Brazil, you don’t even need your passport! I knew you wouldn't believe me so I took a picture - well my dad took the picture but you got the idea :)

An old teacher of mine told me he had seen the most beautiful skies in Leticia…He was so right! The sunset was just breathtaking. I think it was my favorite place so far in Colombia! Enjoy it!

You see all the little spots on the sky? That's thousands parakeets flying (I may not need to mention "flying" but whatever^^) in front of the sunset: amazing!!!

Once finished, we took a boat to… Peru! We went to la Ilsa de Santa Rosa, not even 10 minutes from the Brazil coast to the Peruvian coast. It was very nice even if we didn’t see a lot of things because it was already dark. Welcome to Peru!

Can you see the stars? We could see hundreds of them: it was paradise for me!

On the left: Colombia. On the right: Brazil. In the middle: A very rare animal, I even think I have the only one left on earth^^ Be carefull dealing or speaking with him: you can die laughing! I'm having a blast with my dad and I'm verry happy to be able to share this adventure with him. Always remember that time is precious, whoever you are sharing it with...

We took a little boat to go back to Brazil and a moto taxi drove us back to the Colombian border. It was just amazing to be in 3 different countries in only a few minutes!

Tomorrow: Let's get lost in the Amazon!!
