Santa Marta and Tayrona park

26/08/2011

Yesterday night we went to the old part of the town once again because we had found it so beautiful that we wanted to have another sight of it. We stopped in a bar to have a beer; I took a Club Colombia and my dad a Poker. We drank it enjoying the typical music and looking at the couples dancing all around the little bar. We came home and I laugh out loud as my dad got DRAGUER and was sent a kiss by a tall, good-looking, little blue skirt…man. IT WAS HILARIOUS.
Back to the hotel we packed and got ready for the next day trip.

We got up at 5:30am to take the bus to Santa Marta. We first had to take a public little bus to go to the terminal of buses. We got there 15 minutes before departure so we hurried to find the bus. Once we had it, we put our luggage, paid and got a seat. We slept in and saw everyone going out of the bus but didn’t get anxious as they had told us it was a direct one to Santa Marta. The bus drove for like 2 minutes and a man came to see us:
“-sorry as you are the only 2 passengers in the bus, we are not going to go to Santa Marta but will pay for you new bus” “
“-….”
What do you want to say??

We changed bus and they tried to make us pay a ticket on the new bus but they only tried…you all know me :) I wouldn’t change my mind so they let it go. We had to wait like an hour for the new bus to get ready and have everyone settled inside. The bus dropt us in the middle of Santa Marta instead of the bus terminal as it was planned…. Well a taxi later (only 1.6€) we were at the terminal and were able to buy our ticket for the next day night bus to go to Bucaramanga. We thought it was better to be sure to have a ticket before going to the park because we knew we would be short in time coming back the next day.
A taxi to go back to the city center as it was where we had to take the public bus to go to Tayrona national park. We were lucky as a bus passing by the park was leaving 10 minutes later. We took it and I was amazed to see that this one too was with AC. I was expecting no AC in the buses but generally we had it: bad believes!

At the park we had a ride to go up to the parking (15-20 minutes). Then we put our bags on and started the assent to the camping. By the way, as stupid as it can sounds, I’ll say it anyway –I’m used to look stupid so a bit more or a bit less, it won’t change a lot^^- NEVER EVER go walking without water!!! We had finished out bottle and didn’t think that during the 1 hour walk to the camping we would need water… we were very wrong!
Sunburns + 1 bag of 13kg on your back + 1 bag of 4 kilos in your front + 1hour walk  + 37° + no water = Aouch HAHAHA BUT the sight we had made all the pain and the effort evaporate. I couldn’t stop myself thinking: If you don’t like Colombia it’s because you don’t know it. Seeing the following picture try to tell me it’s wrong:

 King of the world!

But we were sweated a little bit… No it’s not a new kind of design...

We kept walking and were able to see monkeys from very near.

We finally arrived to the camping, rent a tent and went to take a cold shower. I don’t remember enjoying a shower as much as I enjoyed this one. It was great!

We went to have a great dinner where we tried some typical food, principally based on coco flavor. It was all delicious, especially the two juices I had: Melon and Mangoes. It was the best fruits juice I had had so far.

 Ceviche
Fish soup with plantains and yucas.
 Coco rice
Fish but can't remember the name. Anyone have a guess? Taste it before answering :)

After it was time to go to bed as the next day alarm clock was planned at 5:30am for 6 hours of hiking.

Tomorrow: Hike in the Tayrona park to go and visit the famous “pueblito”.
