Dad coming to Costa Rica

15/08/2011

My dad arrived today to Costa Rica after a 15 hours journey to come from Francffurt to San Jose. Luckily he had not to change plane, they stop at Saint Domingue for a technical stop (refill, cleaning of the plane….etc).

Jeffrey –who was the Spanish assistant 2 years ago at my mum’ school- came to pick me up at my hotel with 2 of his friends: Sophie his roommate and Juan Carlos his best friend. Sophie’s mum was coming in the same plane that my dad so we had put them in contact the day before when we realized it. The time we got to the airport they were already outside waiting for us. I was a bit disappointed not being there to welcome my dad as soon as he arrived to Costa Rica but I couldn’t change anything so I introduce him to Jeffrey, Juan Carlos and Sophie.

We left the airport without Sophie as she had to go to work. We headed to CPI to leave all the bags there, it was the easiest way of making sure there were safe and not having to carry them during the entire day. My dad brought me the cheeses and nutella I asked me to bring so we started to dispatch it. We left the cheeses for my boss Jonle and for Jeffrey in the fridge of the school for a better conservation and we left with one bag of cheese and the nutella. We first dropped the nutella at Victor’s place. Indeed, he tried it from Guillaume’s big present and felled in love with it. We then went to my tico family to leave them the bag of cheese (camembert, munster, Roquefort and goat cheese). They weren’t there so I left the bag in the garden, hopping that the dog wouldn’t eat it! :)

We then headed to the Volcan Poas. We were a bit squished the 5 of us in the car but we made it through. The first sight of the Poas volcano was… white! Thanks to the clouds we couldn’t see a thing. While the minutes went by, the crater started showing up a bit.
We also visited the Botos lake with the same problem that for the crater: white at first but waiting 10 minutes we had a perfect view of it.

Juan Carlos with his broken glasses...that's what hapen when you drive on it!

We then headed to La Paz Waterfall and gardens. We had a blast enjoying the animals (even if I don’t like the animal in cages), the waterfalls and…the rain!
I had my rain jacket but my dad didn’t so I gave him mine, not really caring about getting wet.

 A new love story!

 Can you see the frog?

The journey back to San José was very long are we were wet, tired and cold: all the ingredients to get sick jajaja. Fingers crossed it’s not going to happen. They dropped us at our hotel where we took a shower and were waiting for them to call to see at what time we were going to have dinner all together in the city center. Sophie and her mum were too tired to at the end Juan Carlos, Jeffrey my dad and I headed to a nice restaurant Jeffrey Knew “el Banco de los mariscos” in Heredia where we had a nice dinner.

Tomorrow: Tortuguero!!!
