Chicamocha and its surprise...

30/08/2011

The visit to the Chicamocha was amazingly….short! Indeed, our guide book was wrong and the park was not only close on Monday but also Tuesday! I was a bit disappointed as it was one of the points I really wanted to see. Hiking in the park would have been awesome. Whatever, we were able to enjoy the beautiful view from the parking…it was still a wonderful view!

We decided to go back to San Gil and Barichara in order to walk the 9 kilometers of the “El camino real” linking Barichara to Guanes. It was a very nice and easy hike where we were looking for fossils and just enjoying the views.

As we were walking, we passed by a house from where we could hear "Y no regresas" (don't come back) from Juanes. My dad laught a lot about me as I really like this singer and stopped to listen to ir "Of course, I'm sure you never listenned to it before". Jajaja. I think it was a message: Don't come back to Europe and stay in Colombia. :)

It was already 3pm when we arrived to Guanes! No we didn’t take 4 hours to do the 9 kilometers (it wasn’t the Baru^^) but we lost a lot of time in the buses: 1 hour to go from Chicamocha to San Gil, then 50 minutes from San Gil to Barichara and then the hike of 1:40 minutes and you need to add time to wait for the buses or to go to the different bus station.

Back at San Gil, we had lunch before taking the bus back to Bucaramanga.

 Nice road isn't it?

We went to Gladys’ nice little shop where my dad and I were impressed to see she was selling a bit of everything. She introduced us to some usual consumers and we went back home.

It was a nice day with a lot of last minutes changes but it’s the best way of travelling.

Tomorrow: Medellin. I’m very excited and a bit sad at the same time because it’s another place I wanted to see but it also means a place less to visit: it will be 2 done out of 4!… Does that make any sense? Well I suppose it’s just my crazy side coming out again :)
