Salento and Cocora

04/09/2011

I slept as a baby yesterday night. As soon as my head touched the pillow, I was already asleep.

This morning we woke up at 6:30… well my dad at 5:30!! I don’t understand how he does to sleep so little! We finished packing our staff (as we do nearly every day!) and left our big bag at the reception, not to carry them during the hike. It was a good idea as the hike was already hard enough without 15kg on our back. We arrived at 7am to take the jeep which was going to drive us to Cocora.

We walked during around 5 hours on different kind of paths: flat, downhill, uphill…etc but the views were always so beautiful that you forgot all about the hike.

This dog followed us during at least 7 km! nice little doggy :)

 Wax palm plantation

Half way was looking at the was palm plantation and the other one was crossing the forest.

Some bridges were...how to explain... basic?^^

By the way, “Montana” means mountain in English. So if you have a hike named Montana don’t think it’s because you have a beautiful view of mountains…no it’s because you are hiking a mountain… Baru number 2 here we were! jajaja :)

Have you noticed that on the first picture we are looking at the mountain from the base of the tree and that at the end we were higher than the trees!!

Zig Zag road to get to the top!

Hot chocolate + cheese + bread = delicious!
 So true! Never forget it!

Back at Salento we enjoyed the town and its market. We had a delicious lunch at “Rincon de Lucy” with a trout, rive, yuca, salad, soup, potatoes and beans…copious meal with a drink for 6000 pesos = 3€!!!!!

We walked by the center and tried a little cake and a “gelatina” which is like a meringue-gelatin dough…hard to explain but be sure that if you can finish the cup…you are a king as it’s very stuffing!

We went back at the hostel at 3:30, used the computer and internet and finally went to the reception to take our bag. SURPRISE!!! No, they didn’t disappear but we met 2 guys we had met at Tayrona Park more than a week ago. It was funny to see them again. We chatted 10 minutes, sharing our experiences and then left for the bus station. Taking a bus from a little city to the main city near to it a Sunday afternoon at 5 can be challenging. After seeing 2 buses passing by full, we decided to walk to the terminal and try to get a ticket there. It was a smart idea (it was my dad, don’t worry, I didn’t get clever in 5 months^^) as 10 minutes later we were in the bus. On our way we passed a lot of people wanting to take the bus but it was full…it’s going to be hard for them to have one bus, especially if they are travelling in groups.

Just so funny!

We arrived at Armenia 40 minutes later, grabbed a taxi to go to the hotel and did the check in at Casa Real, a nice little hostel in the city center of Armenia. After posting my article, I’ll have to pack all my things for the plane of tomorrow direction the Amazon Basin!!

Tomorrow: Laeticia.
