Reserva Natural Marasha

07/09/2011

Today we woke up at….4:30 am! Si senor! THE LIFE BELONGS TO THOSE WHO GET UP EARLY. Indeed it was the perfect time to see the sun rising and enjoy the awakening of the wild.

 very wild animal
 Maybe not that wild :)
 Definitely not wild!

 Love this pic!!
Seems that he liked it a lot!

We came back, light hearted for the beauty and at 7am we went to have breakfast: pineapples, eggs, toast, jam… very good!
We packed our little bags (we had left the big ones at the first hotel) and went with Mauricio to fish Piranhas!! (now we understand why it’s forbidden to swim in the lake: caimans and Piranhas: nice!!). I was sure we wouldn’t take anything but I was very wrong! Mauricio got one and we were able to see it well and even take pictures.

"Put your finger in its mouth...."

 My dad was hungry...
Don't worry, we are mad in the family but no as mad (I'm the exception^^)

Then my dad half got another one: it was a little and it went back to the water once it was still swinging on the rope. I then got a very vicious Piranha. Mauricio told us it was the vicious breed: things which are similar attract themselves no? jajaja

We only fished during 40 minutes as we had to be back at Leticia at noon to take our bags and go to the airport. We walked back to where the boat had left us, it took us only 40 minutes and then took the boat to the Brazilian port. It took us 1:30 and this time we were able to have a great sight of dolphins.

Back at Tabatinga (Brazil) we took two taxi motorcycles and went back to the hotel.

We met a German girl leaving 15 minutes later for the airport so we decided to share the taxi with her and went there an hour early. We had 2 hours and a half to go the check in, pass through immigration (don’t ask me why as we were going from Colombia to Colombia…). It was funny:
Guard: “did you go to Peru or to Brazil?”
My dad and I: “No” It's a secret so don't tell anyone :D

Well technically as we didn’t cross any real border, we could say we didn’t know…we… ok, no we had no excuses^^
It’s nice I can now say I’ve been to Peru twice and to Brazil 4 times… :-)

The flight was normal and was the perfect timing to allow me to finish my book. I even had time for some sudokus before we landed for our last Colombian City: Bogota. We had been twice already there but stayed only in the airport (when we went to Medellin and to Leticia), this time we went out!

 Goodbye Amazonia!

Giovanni came to pick us up. He is Carlos’ best friend and drove us to a restaurant where we had a Bandeja paisa, typical plate which was very good.

 Bandeja paisa!

There was a juxbox and after playing some salsa, we heard some Juanes: Fotografia and Es por ti. It was very nice to hear my favorite Colombian singer while eating a delicious Colombia meal y a very typical plate: everything to be happy!

Once finished, Giovanni drove us to Carlos’ borther house where we were going to sleep during out stay in Bogota. We met him and his sister, two very nice people. Otto (the brother) left us his flat!!! It’s so nice from him! After a quick talk they left and we took a shower and went to bed. I open my new book –still from Gabo- “The general in his labyrinth.” A good point of not having internet 24h/24 is that I have much more to read!

Tomorrow: Catedral de Sal de Zipaquira.
