Osario and San Martin de Pajares islands

25/08/2011

Today was an amazing day!
At 7:30 we had to be at the port to take our boat the the Osario’s island.  Because of the people coming late we only left at 9am!

The ride was very nice and pleasant with an animator: “Johnny Guay”. He was going a good job. He divided the boat in two teams: the Dolphins and the Sharks… don’t ask me why I was a shark..I don’t have a clue… hazard? :-) We then had to choose a guy representing our team. They had to answered question about the historical facts Johnny had given us before or finding the most T shirt, towels or bras amongst their teams. After they had to disguise themselves into girls:  It was pretty funny.

We then had around an hour to rest and enjoy the beautiful view we had.

The first stop was the San Martin de Pajarales’ island where the aquarium is. My dad and I didn’t want to go there so we found a local to bring us to do snorkeling. IT WAS AWESOME, AMAZING, GREAT! And I miss words to explain what we saw. He brought us to a coral reef and we jumped in the great 25° degree of the Caribbean sea! We were able to see a lot of fishes: some rainbow, some small black one with little shining blue dot looking like small diamantes, eels, coral reef and shells. It was just incredible!

The “guide” gave me one shellfish to bring home but I thought that if everyone would do it, no one would be able to enjoy what we saw. So I took it, took a photo back on the boat, and gave it back to the sea.

We had only an hour in this island before the boat was leaving so we only snorkeled during 35 minutes but it seemed like 5! The next stop was Playa Blanca (White beach) where we ate lunch.

We then had some free time to enjoy the beach. I didn’t expose myself too much because… Who said there is no sun during the rainy season in Columbia?....

Even with that, we had a great time at the beach. At 4pm the captain “whistled” us back to the boat. We were able to enjoy the beautiful sunset from the boat.

In one word: if Colombia is as great as what I saw until today: I’m not going back to Europe!!!

Tomorrow: Santa Marta (We are going to camp overthere so won't have internet)
